Jason Engelund is a photographer, painter, poet and social artist. His artwork explores photography and painting as a metaphor for visual perception to consider how we make meaning through ways of seeing, event experience, time and the metaphorical and conceptual capacities of landscape. In 2016, Engelund was selected by the Museum of Photographic Arts, San Diego as one of eleven artists who reside in California and work in photography for their triennial exhibition “Boundless: A California Invitational”. In 2012, Engelund was awarded a Sustainable Arts Foundation Individual Artist grant for his work in photography.
As a social artist Engelund creates solutions to vitalize society and our lives through the arts. He is a founding member of the California College of the Arts Center for Art and Public Life where he worked for eleven years developing and supporting programs for artists to collaborate with communities locally and across the globe to address social and humanitarian issues.
