Armadillo&Co Rugs

Atlas Berber Knot Rug in Limestone

We recently fell madly in love with Sydney-based Armadillo&Co Rugs and knew we wanted to add them to our shop. In early 2017, we visited their Melbourne showroom and saw how magnificent their entire line was in person. Armadillo&Co products are 100% handmade, using Fair Trade practices with natural and sustainable fibres.

Jodie Fried and Sally Pottharst, created Armadillo&Co in 2009. Armadillo&Co was born from their desire to combine aesthetics and ethics with clear focus on social responsibility. What they couldn’t find, they decided to make.

Every purchase:

Provides employment and helps sustain an industry of ancient craftsmanship
Supports education and local schools in our weavers’ villages
Builds brighter futures for children in underprivileged communities

100% Handmade

From the hands of those who spin and dye the yarns, to the hands of the artisans who weave and finish the rugs, each one of Armadillo&Co products are infused with the rich history of ancient craftsmanship. Every Armadillo&Co product is 100% handmade by an extended family of artisans using Fair Trade practices. Their artisans are integral to each of their local community’s livelihood and most importantly, they are carrying on a lineage that deserves preservation.

Natural & Sustainable

Armadillo&Co's key values is environmental responsibility. They strive for their products and processes to leave as little impact on the earth as possible, while using a ‘reuse, reduce and recycle’ philosophy. They are continuously working to conserve and reduce their resources and energy consumption as they grow. The materials for their products are carefully sourced and they use natural, recycled and sustainable fibres.

Socially Responsible

Armadillo&Co believe in giving back. It's their way to support those who give so much to them. They are passionately committed to social responsibility and community involvement. It is vitally important to their brand to support local schools in the weavers’ villages, as well as The Anganwadi Project’s preschools in poverty stricken slums. Every purchase helps provide employment to their extended family of artisans, as well as education support to local schools in their villages and helps build brighter futures for children in underprivileged communities.

They are ardent supporters and members of Care & Fair, an initiative against illegal child labour in the carpet production industry in India, Nepal and Pakistan. Absolutely no children are in any way employed in the making of Armadillo&Co products.
