ETHNICRAFT + SOBU

Alessandro first came across Ethnicraft at a furniture show a few years back. He texted me excitedly and said, "You have to see this".

We both instantly fell in love with their minimalist, elegant and refined aesthetic, but it may have been their level of craftsmanship and exceptional material choices that really blew us away. We were just starting SOBU and Ethnicraft was just foraying into the states, so the relationship didn't get it's full start until SOBU had found it's footing in Rockridge and we had opened up anew in early 2016.

We reached out to Ethnicraft and started to show a few pieces alongside our own designs. On the basis of how beautiful their pieces were in our shop and how well made, our customers ordered with us from their wide collection, sight unseen. And that is still the case. We have limited space at our shop, but on our online shop we are proud to offer their entire line.

Ethnicraft embodies a sophisticated European sensibility with an incredible amount of warmth through their use of solid woods and exquisite finishing. Their pieces equally shine in the most relaxed of spaces as they do in more formal settings. One piece can stand alone in a space and literally be enough...that says a lot! We hope that like us, you value their pieces for their elegant simplicity and timeless style. Us Americans, I think we're ready for this!

CARING FOR YOUR ETHNICRAFT PIECES

OAK

Most of the Ethnicraft oak furniture is finished with a pigmented hardwax oil. This finish shows off the furniture's true color and forms a natural protective coating that acts as a repellent against most common substances and liquids. We still recommend that you wipe up spills quickly and don't let liquids sit for too long as they will eventually seep through the finish.

For regular dusting, use a dry cloth. For cleaning or in case of a spill, use a damp cloth and natural soap. Wipe in the direction of the grain. Do not use soap containing detergent or other chemicals. Dry with a soft clean cloth to prevent spotting.

To refresh your furniture or to remove surface marks (crayons or pencil marks, wine or fruit juice stains, etc.) we recommend Osmo Liquid Wax Cleaner (3029). This product cleans and regenerates the elegant character of the wood and reinforces the original protective coating.

As time goes by, the original hardwax coating may need to be renewed. We recommend using Osmo Hardwax Oil Natural (3041). In case of discoloration, stubborn stains or to remove a superficial scratch, we advise to sand the surface first. Make sure the surface is clean and dry before evenly applying the oil.
